Eligibility
Typically, Medicare
Part B provides coverage for medical supplies for beneficiaries
at home or in a skilled nursing setting. Coverage is provided if
the individual meets the following eligibility criteria:
1. They reside at
home and are not receiving home health care (otherwise they are
covered under the home health care benefit);
2. They reside in a
nursing home and do not meet the skilled nursing guidelines for
Medicare Part A; or
3. They reside in an
Assisted Living Facility
Medicare has set up
coverage guidelines that require Medicare supplies retailers to
provide the individual with their supplies and bill Medicare for
reimbursement on their behalf. Medicare provides two billing
options for supplies retailers to collect payment: Assignment
and Non-Assignment.
