Case Study 6: Fine-tuning Correction Boluses

We can also see the full action of correction boluses. Blood sugars begin to rise, the bolus is given, then blood sugars peak and fall again.

Case Study 7: Post-prandial Analysis

SMBG is very limiting on showing us post prandial values. Patients often complain of having SMBG values that would indicate a far lower 1C than they see form the lab. When starting CGM therapy we can see that post prandial elevations are much higher than SMBG values are capturing. With this information we can work on adjusting glycemic index of diet, bolus timing strategies, insulins or medications used.

Case Study 8: Impact of Physical Activity

CGM therapy reveals the impact of delayed onset hypoglycemia following exercise.

In this example we can see increased insulin sensitivity for approximately 8 hours following nightly workouts. In this case, since the patient is a pump user we can educate them on using temporary basal reductions for the 8 hour period following their workouts to prevent hypoglycemia.
