Resources for Patients,
Caregivers and Health Care Team Members
Remember
that patients who experience incontinence may do so
without seeking help for many years. We know that this
is unnecessary because there are many viable options to
successfully manage incontinence and continue to live
full and active lives. Clinicians should make it a point
to discuss incontinence with patients in a reassuring
and positive way. And
there
are many resources to help all of these players to
address and manage incontinence in a patient-centered
manner. This effort can also pay off by preventing
complications of incontinence and declines in quality of
life. Below is an example of a National Association for
Continence patient education piece on bladder
retraining. This piece, and others like it, are
available at NAFC.org and other online sources.
Here are some additional resources which you
might find helpful,
including information about a fecal incontinence
trial.
