Cade
Fields-Gardner, MS, RD, LD, CD is an HIV-specialist dietitian providing
training, education, research, and program development services for public
agencies, professional organizations, health facilities, and industry. She
has authored professional research and review articles, including the 1994
and 2000 Position Paper for nutritional management in HIV/AIDS for the
American Dietetic Associations and Dietitians of Canada; patient-oriented
pamphlets, handouts, and articles; a Clinician’s Guidebook on Nutritional
Management in HIV/AIDS, two books on HIV Medication Interactions, and is
working on a cookbook for patients in the era of HAART.
Ms. Fields-Gardner
is currently working on field-testing nutritional management guidelines for
pediatric HIV-infected patients in the United States, and developing,
implementing, and monitoring nutritional projects in selected Southern
African and Central American countries with an emphasis on targeting
HIV-infected and affected populations as a consultant to the Global
Initiative for AIDS Nutrition Therapies (GIANT), Church World Services
(international humanitarian efforts), and the World Initiative for Soy in
Human Health (WISHH) HIV-targeted efforts. She is a regular consultant
providing body composition recommendations and training for the Pediatric
AIDS Clinical Trial Group (PACTG) and selected Adult ACTG projects. She has
a special interest in public policy on HIV infection and disease and has
presented her work on nutrition-related issues in HIV disease locally,
regionally, nationally, and internationally. |
Cindy Nissen, RN, MSN, CWOCN |
Cindy
Nissen, RN, MSN, CWOCN is an advanced practice nurse with clinical
specialization in gerontological nursing and wound care. She has worked for
over fifteen years with older adults and their caregivers in a variety of
settings including acute, ambulatory, home and long-term care. She possesses
both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing and is a board certified
Wound, Ostomy and Continence nurse. She has developed and presented over
1,500 creative educational programs for health care professionals in over
twenty states and Canada.
Cindy
developed the PARTNERS program, a total quality management strategy for
long-term care, which decreased pressure ulcer incidence rates, the results
of which have been presented and published at numerous national conferences.
She has served as a preceptor for graduate nursing students from Rush
University, Purdue and Northern Illinois University, initiated a
hospital-based caregiver support group for children of aging parents, and is
currently a member of the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses, the
Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, Sigma Theta Tau and the
Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurses Society.

former Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN). Her education encompasses both
